Drug Abuse Rehabilitation Programs Benefits?

Stated Benefits:
All of society, by helping to eliminate drug abuse.

Intended Benefits:

All of society, by helping to control drug abuse.

Actual Benefits:
The folks that run the clinics, and the bureaucrats that administer the funds. All that is financial in nature of course.

I guess that if a program of some kind helps an individual keep from stepping over the line into an addiction, there might be some real social benefit. With all the bombardment of drug and alcohol propaganda that is on TV, shouldn't we expect everybody to be using some kind of preparation to facilitate every aspect of their lives?

How often do your children get to see Viagra commercials on the idiot box. Are they being trained to believe that unless natural copulation lasts about four hours, the male needs to take a pill and the female need to use some kind of lube? What kind of sick emotional pressure is that going to put on the next generation?

The vast majority of people alive today have grown up with TV. According to "Government statistics" the average kid in this country watches five hours of TV per day. So lets see, that's about twenty-five minutes of programing (that incidentally, turns out to be even more advertising) per hour. That gives us about three hours per day of commercial advertisements per kid.

In most households I have seen and or heard of, the TV goes on as soon as someone gets up, and does not go off until the last one goes to bed. There might be a break in that, if, every body in the house has to leave or be gone at the same time, like school and work. I am going to guess that the TV is on even in those houses from about 06:00 to 08:00 and then from 15:00 to 23:00 or 10 hours on weekdays, and from 0700 to 23:00 or 16 hours on the weekend days for a grand total 82 hours per week. Therefore, three fifths of 82 hours is about 49 hours per week of commercial propaganda. That is more time than most people work per week.

I am going to guess that about half or more of the commercials are related to some kind of medication. We have been told all our lives that we need to take drugs to look better ,feel better, have more energy, go to sleep, control defecation, to have sex, loose weight, gain weight, remove wrinkles, and I am sure that the list can go on. So the average Kid in the country has been raised with about 25 hours per week of training to use drugs. Is there any wonder why so many people in this country take drugs for recreational purposes?

What are there benefits?
I keep coming back to the question, who is making the money? The government can tell us that they need more tax money to fund their programs. At the same time, they can keep telling us that they are doing such a good job of combating the drug problem, that is, with this side of there mouths. On the other side, they train and encourage us to use and take drugs of some kind for every facet of life. O.K. your going to try to tell me that the government wouldn't do that. What about the three and one half hours per day of drug related commercials on the FCC (that's the government) controlled TV that the average child gets to see? The people running the clinics can charge the individuals what ever they want and then send another bill to the government for any "uncovered" expenses.

Those folks can sure make some money from that. Do these clinics really want to "cure" the drug problem in this country? Wouldn't they be loosing their source of revenue? As long as the government is subverted by lobbyists, our elected officials won't do any thing to change the statusquo. How much money is exchanged in the back rooms to keep the people on some kind of medication. I can not believe that there is not some kind of collusion. Would government (higher taxes) health care stop the problem? What about a government (higher taxes) prescription drug plan? What makes you think that giving the government more money is going to help stop a problem that they are involved in perpetuating?
