Drug Abuse Rehabilitation Programs (DARP, DARP's) Evaluation What is a DARP? A therapy system intended to educate and treat an individual that practices unapproved uses of unapproved substances, as defined by law and social custom, for the stimulation of the pleasure center of their nervous systems, with the goal to change that behavior to reflect the accepted normal social behavior with regard to that use and substance. Various types of programs exist with varying degrees of success, ranging from "Self Hypnotic Mantras" to "Electroshock combine with pharmaceutical treatments". The costs of the various programs are difficult to discern. Why is the federal government so "concerned" about this "problem" that it spends (higher taxes) and forces industry to spend (higher labor costs) thousands of thousands of dollars per year on this "problem? Has government and the corporate world discovered what has proven to be the social cancer of the day, and now philanthropically, has to do all it can to cure the world of this new disease? What motivation is there for an employer to buy insurance that "offers" rehabilitation services to its employees? What is a "Drug"? What is "Abuse"? Who benefits? When it comes to people, is it akin to asking a zebra to change its stripes? With the push toward serfdom of the middle class, I have to ask where the money? Speculation about some of these questions and more is the focus of this site.
